Ron Barrett is a cultural and medical anthropologist whose research concerns the ways the human societies come to terms with their mortality in India and the United States. He is the author of Aghor Medicine: Pollution, Death, and Healing in India (University of California Press) and An Unnatural History of Emerging Infections (Oxford University). He is also a former registered nurse with clinical experience in hospice, brain injury rehabilitation, and neuro-intensive care.
