Home funeral teachers and trainers offer instruction and courses in how to conduct body care after death, what the legal requirements are in each state, how to work with funeral directors, hospice, hospital personnel, and other professionals, and much more. Trainers are expected to cover basic home funeral education but each training varies, so be sure to study each trainer's website and make contact with questions for more information. Please also note: some courses offer a certificate of completion, and the National End-of-Life Doula Alliance will soon be offering a home funeral guide certificate of proficiency dependent on successfully passing a proficiency exam. However, since there is no national certifying board for home funeral guides, there is no such thing as a certified home funeral guide.
